Undergrad Students

See the Undergraduate Program Brochure!

The Department's undergraduate program gives students a solid foundation in physics suitable for graduate study or to branch out into other scientific or technical disciplines. It begins with an introductory course, specially tailored for our physics majors, that dramatically leaps beyond traditional high school physics, and includes many of the landmark ideas of 20th century physics. Also in the Freshman year students begin the mastery of computational tools that have been another characteristic of contemporary physics - an emphasis that continues throughout our innovative curriculum. The curriculum continues with a balance of formal courses, essential to physics, as well as topical courses where undergrads and graduates together can taste forefront ideas in areas such as Astrophysics, Biophysics, Condensed Matter, and Particle Physics. The curriculum concludes with a capstone Senior Thesis project.
